The cricket definitions agreed upon in 2005 varied from the subsequent soccer and rugby definitions in that a cricket injury required the player to miss playing time in order to be included in surveillance. This would mean that fewer injuries were included in surveillance but in theory the definitions should be easier to comply with.16,17 In the consensus group there was some argument that the cricket definitions should attempt to record every condition which presented to medical or physiotherapy staff, which was the attitude taken by the consensus definition groups for the football codes. The eventual decision for cricket was made because of the anticipated difficulty with compliance in the sport of cricket (and given that some cricket-playing nations do not have advanced sports medicine services). Despite attempts to make the definitions easy to comply with, cricket injury surveillance has been very slow to evolve. There is still no international injury surveillance system in cricket and it appears that injury surveillance has been a low priority to date for bodies like the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which organizes the IPL.
Injury match incidence in the units of injuries per 10,000 player hours is higher in one day matches than first class matches and higher still in Twenty20 cricket. Because first class matches are played over a much longer duration than limited overs matches (at both domestic and international level), they produce a higher number of injuries per match, even though the hourly rate is lower.
Table 10 analyzes match injury incidence by a new unit, injuries per 1,000 days of play. This unit was not recommended by the international definitions but enables a more direct comparison between Twenty20 cricket and the other forms. From this, it can be seen that Domestic Twenty20 matches have a lower bowling injury incidence than other forms of domestic cricket in terms of injuries per day of play, even though the incidence is comparable in terms of injuries per 1,000 overs bowled. He was picked up from Churchill Boys High School, sent off to tour the West Indies in 1999-2000, and quickly became a stand-by for Andy Flower, and later his replacement. An excellent wicketkeeper and a doughty batter, Taibu was pitchforked into the captaincy in April 2004 as Zimbabwe cricket tumbled into chaos, but within 18 months he had been forced into retirement by threats and intimidation. After spells in Bangladesh and England, he reappeared in Zimbabwe colours in mid-2007. He announced his retirement from international cricket in July 2012 at the age of 29 to focus working for the church. Four years later, he returned to the game in an administrative capacity.

Four years before, she had become the first South African woman to take an ODI hat-trick, also against West Indies. van Niekerk made her international debut as a 15-year-old in the 2009 World Cup, and starred with bat and ball as South Africa moved up the rankings over the years. In 2016 she replaced Mignon du Preez as South Africa's captain, and led the side to the semi-finals in the 2017 50-over World Cup and the 2020 T20 World Cup. In July 2018, van Niekerk married team-mate Marizanne Kapp, a fast-bowling allrounder.
1933Birth of the Gloucestershire and England allrounder John Mortimore, who never really cracked it in nine appearances at Test level. He averaged 24 with the bat and 58 with the ball, but was more effective in county cricket, where he and fellow offspinner David Allen formed an outstanding partnership. Mortimore took four wickets in five balls against Lancashire at Cheltenham in 1962, and captained Gloucester between 1965 and 1967. He was also bowling when Lancashire's David Hughes launched his famous twilight assault - 24 off an over - in the Gillette Cup semi-final of 1971 at Old Trafford.
It is a damning indictment of the system, Bangladesh's cricketing culture and the regime under former coach Chandika Hathurusingha that for a while Mominul was in danger of slipping through the cracks.
